Water Use in WyomingThe U.S. Geological Survey's National Water-Use Information Program is responsible for compiling and disseminating the nation's water-use data. Water use estimates are made using uniform methods nationwide in an effort to provide reliable information concerning water use in the United States. Estimates are made using data collected from thousands of different sources and represent a major compilation effort every 5 years. Data are compiled so that they can be aggregated to the county, state, and national levels. Goals of the National Water-Use Information Program can be found at: http://water.usgs.gov/watuse/wunwup.html The USGS has estimated and reported on the quantities of water used within the United States for a variety of purposes since 1950.
