RUNOFF PLOTS FOR SELECTED STATIONS IN WYOMINGOctober 1, 2003September 30, 2004The runoff graphs shown on these pages depict the total amount of water that flowed past a given streamflow-gaging station from October 1, 2003 through September 30, 2004. The graphs depict runoff measured at a given USGS streamflow-gaging station. For many streams in Wyoming, most of the runoff occurs during a snowmelt runoff period that generally begins in April or May, and ends by late July. For these snowmelt-dominated streams, as much as 80% of the annual runoff occurs during this snowmelt runoff period. Click on the river basin name on the map or in the list below to view the runoff graphs.
Annual runoff Annual runoff is the total quantity of water that is discharged (“runs off”) from a drainage basin in a year. Annual runoff data are often presented as volumes in acre-feet. An acre foot is the volume of water that would cover one acre to a depth of one foot and equals 43,560 cubic feet or 325,851 gallons.
