Three New Interpretive Signs Erected On Greenway

Interpretive sign on Dry Creek at Yellowstone Road
The City of Cheyenne announced the installation of three new interpretive signs
along the Cheyenne Greenway. Two signs describing the flood of August 1, 1985,
have been placed along the Dry Creek Greenway. The signs show the
amount of water and depth of the flood at different locations along the Dry
Creek drainage, as well as describe the statistics of the storm, helping
Greenway users visualize the events that occurred in 1985.
The third sign is located along the Crow Creek path just west of Optimist Park.
This sign displays general information about the creek and shows quantities
of water that typically flow in Crow Creek during a particular month.
All three signs were a collaborative effort between the U.S. Geological Survey,
the City of Cheyenne, States West Water Resources, and Welding and Machine Inc.
Additional information about the August 1, 1985 flood and the City's current
flood warning system can be found at the internet site http://wy.water.usgs.gov/projects/urban/index.htm
or by contacting the U.S. Geological Survey at 307/778-2931.
