USGS Real-time Streamflow Data for Wyoming on Web

As rivers, creeks, and streams rise from rainstorms and snowmelt, the public can monitor the increasing flow using the U.S. Geological Survey's (USGS) web site: http://wy.water.usgs.gov/ . From the Wyoming District's home page, you can then click on the web page describing current Wyoming streamflow conditions, which are updated every hour every day of the week by satellite transmissions from over 50 sites in and around the state. In addition to the real-time data, information on streamflow statistics, historical streamflows, and station descriptions are also available. The figure below shows recent streamflow conditions at a USGS gaging station on the Wind River at Riverton, Wyoming.

The USGS maintains offices in all states, and operates more than 7,000 streamflow-gaging stations nationwide. For more information about the USGS streamflow gaging program, see: http://water.usgs.gov/streamgaging .
